Figure 4: Melusin overexpression protects from left ventricle dilation upon pressure overload

Left ventricle structure and function as evaluated by echocardiography in both wild-type (WT) and melusin overexpressing transgenic mice (Mel-TG) subjected to transverse aortic constriction. Representative M-mode left ventricular echocardiografic recordings of wild-type (upper pictures) and melusin overexpressing transgenic mice (melusin overexpressing transgenic (Mel-TG lower pictures) mice in basal conditions or after 4, 8 and 12 weeks of aortic constriction are shown.

Note the left ventricle chamber dilation occurring in wild type mice and the sustained concentric hypertrophy of melusin overexpressing transgenic mice (lower panels).
