Guido Tarone
Co-founder
Is Full Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Turin Medical School. In his career he spent several periods in prestigious scientific institutions in USA among which: Department of Pathology, Yale University (1976-1977), The Winstar Institute, Philadelpha (1983), La Jolla Cancer Research Foundation (now The Burhnam Cancer Institute), San Diego (1989), Department of Pathology, Columbia University, New York (2000). His research interest is focused on membrane protein function and receptor signaling pathways and his expertise and contribution in the field of integrin signaling is internationally recognized. His research interest is focused on the signaling mechanisms controlling heart and muscle hypertrophy. He is author of 110 scientific papers quoted on ISI citation report. He is President of the Italian Association of Cell Biology and Differentiation.
Giuseppe Lembo
Co-founder
Is Associated Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and Head of the Angio-Cardiology Department at IRCCS Neuromed (Molise). In 1993-1994 he was at the Department of Medicine and Center for Molecular Genetics, University of California San Diego in the laboratory of KR Chien. He is Member of the Editorial Board of “Journal of Hypertension” and his research interest are the molecular mechanisms involved in heart failure, a topic in which he is internationally recognized as demonstrated by numerous invitation to international meetings and its reviewer activity for the leading journals in the field. He is author of 100 scientific papers quoted on ISI citation report. He has a long standing experience both in clinical and experimental cardiology.
Mara Brancaccio
Co-founder
Research Scientist at the University of Turin Medical School. Since 1996 she has been working on the project that has led to melusin discovery and she spent a year training at the Harvard Medical School, MGH, Boston, USA in the laboratory of Prof. G.P. Dotto. In 1999 she won the national prize of the Italian Federation of Life Sciences (FISV) for the best Ph.D. thesis in Cell Biology. She has gained a great expertise in molecular biology technologies and analysis of signal transduction pathways.
Federica Accornero
She got a Master degree in Biotechnology at the University of Turin and her thesis work greatly contributed to the development of the analysis of melusin signaling in cardiomyocytes and to the development of viral vectors for experimental gene therapy approaches. Her strong technical and scientific expertise in molecular and cell biology is key to the development of the Target Heart research project.
Sara Saponaro
She got Master degree in Biology at the University of Turin. She has a good experience in cell culture as well as in biochemical and immunochemical analysis of cellular proteins that is key to the generation and preparation of specific melusin constructs.
